Thanks for the update, ehartman. Sorry to hear you had such a bad time there. However it's very rare for restaurants in touristy areas to be really THAT good. even so, your experience sounds quite dreadful. Should you be in Milan again, try one of the restaurants I list on the right hand side of my blog. They aren't in tourist areas, generally, but well worth the 10 minute (or less) taxi ride to them, in my opinion.

Unfortunately the situation has worsened since you have been there last year. My conclusion in 2012: Lo Strapuntino – very disappointing, bad food, even worse service.

I was really excited about it after googeling and reading good reviews. Also some guys mentioned it in their blog. Here’s what we got instead at Lo Strapuntino: meal #1 overdone, greasy fish cake which tasted like catfood, meal #2 (the most disgusting piece of food i have EVER put in my mouth) pieces of fish fat with pasta in tomato sauce for 28 euro.
Appetizer: I got fried zucchini flowers thinking it will be light and delicious, oh no…. again extremely greasy and at the same time a soggy mess. My mom ordered pasta which came cold and dry almost like it was heated up, then the main course at Lo Stapuntino: the driest piece of fat on a bone that looked like it belonged on another animal (for 22 euro).
The waiter did not answer to questions regarding the freshness of the food. The food at Lo Stapuntino was not served simultaneously. The table wasn’t cleaned properly, so we had to eat at a dirty table decorated with glasses used by previous customers.
So far my bad experience at Lo Strapuntino in 2012. Thanks for posting :)
