This isn’t quite in the countryside but it’s OK. It’s in a quiet place and it’s so nice to be there with F anyway that it’s OK.

Yes, I do know what you mean ‘without him’. But, if I go down there on my own (or, rather, just me and the dogs) there are other pressures as well. His family, etc. Who are lovely but who I don’t really know at all. But that’ll be for another post, I think.

Hi Andy-
I so appreciate you taking the time to share about the house/flat. I totally understand – and please know that in my heart I am always looking out for you – not that you need it it is just the way I feel, and react, like a protective “big sister” . I know you will have many lovely weeks and weekends there with “F” and even without him for it is a part of him, regardless.

Hi Andy,

I can see what you mean by “individual togetherness” . As far as I can tell, you are not a “planner” but perhaps when it comes to love things should be put in a different perspective. In my very humble opinion, it’s fine with you to a certain extent. I’m not too sure you like this “change” . Perhaps I am wrong though… this is just my take on that.

Hi Gail,

Yes, it is rather good, isn’t it?

The house is the one that F owns with his brother. It’s actually the ground floor of a 2-storey house and is in F’s birthplace and where, last summer and September, we spent most weekends. The flat itself does need a bit of updating and F thinks it will be nice for me to be able to go there with the dogs – even if it is without him because he is working or away. And he’s right, in a way, it would be lovely. Just much, much better with him, of course.

Anyway, last year, he got his Mum and Dad to go in and do cleaning so that we could use it. No one has stayed there for about 6 years, it seems. He doesn’t really want to ask them to do that this year as it is a little unfair – and I agree. He also wants to give it a lick of paint and, generally, make it much nicer. This year, in August, we shall go and stay there for a week, then a week in Umbria and then, probably, most weekends back down at the flat.

So, it’s OK. There’s no bitter taste, really. I was just having a bit of a ‘not sure’ moment

So nice to hear that Rufus is more comfortable. phew. Now, what of this house that requires tidying? I am so unaware of it. Is it both of yours? Or just “F’s”? And so too I am confused as to why it is even a question or decision if you go or not. Such thoughts leave a bitter taste in me. I am just sayin’……..
