I had visions of her lying on the floor with a heart attack or something. Yes, bravo ragazzo – but I did try to get him to call about an hour earlier! I would have called myself but, as you know, I can’t speak Italian. So I was a bit cheesed off that my several ‘F, please call the police’, went unheaded for so long and it was only made because he couldn’t get to sleep!

Actually, F DID ring the policea little later, just before midnight. The police were there within about 5 minutes. They rang the doorbell of the neighbour opposite who gave them the name of the son (I didn’t even know she had children). The police got the phone number and phoned him. His mother was there, with him.

Obviously, this is the first time she’s left this dog on its own and it doesn’t like it. In the end, she is fine …. and so is the dog, I guess. She arrived back home about 1 a.m. – or, at least, that’s what time the dog stopped barking.

Unfortunately, when the police spoke to her son they said that the neighbours were complaining about the dog barking. This was not true. What F said was that the dog barking was unusual and we were worried that something had happened to her. But you know how things get lost in Chineses whispers :-(
