Thanks for the link, Cecilieaux. They specifically mention dogs are unlikely to throw themselves off cliffs (or, I guess, balconies) to commit suicide.
However, I have heard of them ‘running away’ near their time, as if to go and die somewhere on their own. In fact, we had one that did that only a few months before he did actually die!
No, in this case, it was the husband wot dunnit!

Huh. A dog that committed suicide by throwing himself off a balcony after squeezing through the rails.. Oh my – quite unsettling to even think about.

You have white shoes??
