Well, as a start, I do text him, more or less exclusively in Italian. But I have to speak to him about when we’re together as he insists on speaking English and, I think, it would help if he spoke Italian back to me – at least we could do that for some or most of the time.

Yes, it’s just that most of my spare time is taken up right now. Very little time for reading ……..

Still, I suppose his ‘slowly’ is quite fast and I shouldn’t complain, really. And, if I have to do this to get to see him then I guess it’s worth it. The things you do for…..!!!!

Yes, I know he is right but he thinks I understand much more than I do! However, I am trying – I know how important it is – not really to converse with him but to converse with some of his friends who don’t speak much, if any, English. And I know he will be kind to me and helpful but, I know that you know what I mean. My Italian is not good

Andy, he is right! You have an Italian boyfriend, don’t miss the chance to learn Italian! I’m sure you can speak it, don’t be shy! I’m aware I make mistakes when I speak English but it’s only since I stop thinking about my English that it has improved.

psWhy don’t you write some posts in Italian as well? I would love to read your thoughts in my own language
