The Assault Course

I have mentioned it previously but it has been raining quite a lot recently. Not all day, every day but it certainly feels like it. However, it has rained heavily and for very prolonged periods (yesterday it seems that it started about 9 a.m. And finished some time after I went to bed).

As a result of this it seems it would have been better to have bought a 4×4. As I’ve also said before, every time it rains, new holes appear all over the place on the roads. And these are, often, deep holes, even if they’re not that big.

So, daily, the road becomes more like an ‘off-road’ than a road. The only roads that seem unaffected are the motorways and the cobbled roads in Milan.

The annoying thing this morning was that I forgot, at a certain set of traffic lights, about the new hole I had discovered yesterday morning and one of the wheels dropped into it his morning. Damn. It is a bit of a problem, though, remembering where all the holes are and where the new ones are from the day before.

Driving in Italy. What fun!

  1. But this is the beauty of Italy! You can never know how you’ll find roads, houses, people, etc…!
Here in Wichita there is the snow everywhere and it’s really cold. The kind of weather you prefer, isn’t it?

  2. Ha ha ha Pietro. Very funny! We have sunshine and about 6 degrees here, right now and still I am cold! I’m glad I’m not with you although it may be very pretty where you are – with all the snow and that?

Yes, the motto here should be ‘Expect the unexpected’ and it should apply to everything.
