The point of no return and things to be missed

I am at home today. First I have had one removal firm come round and quote. I really wanted two different quotes. One for all our furniture (just in case) and one for the things I am taking. I ended up with one – for all our furniture. It is quite a lot of money. I can afford it but wish that it were cheaper.

Later, I go with FfI, to sign the contract for the Perfect-flat-on-the-perfect-street. I have mixed feelings about this. Obviously I am, in a way, delighted and very happy that, in three/four weeks I shall be moved in, if not entirely settled. On the other hand, this is the ‘no-turning-back’ point.

But there are things that I will not miss. I will not miss the loud music played, last night, until about midnight; the sopping wet bathmat after V has had a bath; the promises not kept; the emptiness of the things said – things that cannot happen or will not happen – you know, the irritating things about someone that you put up with, just because you should and because it’s part of “being in a relationship”.

But, to be honest, I will miss so much more than the things I shall not miss.

  1. Hi Andy-

Change is difficult. I have been touched by your journey in many ways – your highs and lows – sadness and surrender. Perhaps a photo of the perfect flat on the perfect street would help me to settle in with you. sigh…….

    Love Gail
    peace…..
