Am I going to look like I’ve got some dread disease, or not?

One of the banes of living (or holidaying) in Italy are the mosquitoes. They arrive sometime in May (generally – this year they were a bit late as it was so cold) and keep going through until August/September.

To be honest, as the years go by, I am less affected by them than most but, still, they are a pain in the neck or wherever else they bite.

But, to know whether you should be taking a bottle of spray or 10 with you, you can check out the level of infestation here, at a site sponsored by a mosquito repellent producer.

Happy repelling :-)

  1. HI ANDY – we get mosquitoes from May ’til September too. We burn the citrinella torches when we are outside but they seem to defy the smoke and come in for a bite anyway. Onw of the many reasons why I dislike summer and the heat.

By the way, how are you my friend. I have been around but a bit quiet. Hope alli well in Milan. We are making this our home…………as the blessings overtake the losses.
    Love Gail
    peace….

    • Yes, sorry Gail but I don’t think these citronella things don’t really work. F use these and still gets bitten.
I used to get really bad when I first came to Italy. My left arm always swelled up to twice it’s size after a couple of bites – but now, thank goodness, it’s OK and, in fact, I hardly get bitten at all.

I’m well thank you. Glad that things are moving in the right direction for you and Skipp.
Take care and try to stay cool.
