I really wish there was a decent blog search facility that allowed random blog searching. I’ve used the one on JournalSpace – but that only searches JournalSpace blogs. The one on Blogger does the same. Using Technorati and Google Blog Search, you have to type in a subject.
What I really want is a facility that searches all blogs everywhere and randomly selects a blog to view. Even using Blogger you can immediately dismiss the ones in a foreign language (unless it’s Italian), the selling variety of blog, the ones that haven’t been updated for a while, the ones offering soft porn. So, in the end, I spend a few seconds before hitting the “next blog” button.
But when you find an interesting blog it makes it worthwhile.
One I found recently is Thinner. This is actually quite a shocking blog. If ever there’s a case for banning models that are too thin or making the media more responsible for their content, I think, this would be it. And, am I making it worse by highlighting the blog?
But to read it is harrowing. How can you help someone like this? This has got to be some sort of psychological disorder and it needs fixing fast. And it’s a spiral that descends ever further into a place from which she almost certainly cannot escape.
Just so that you know, I write often. I’ve written three posts in the last 24 hours, I just don’t feel up to posting them. Maybe in the future? It means I have a lot of stuff that you, the reader, never sees. The other two I wrote but didn’t post were about the recent spate of shootings in the UK and Chinese New Year (which wasn’t actually about that at all – but that is definitely another story).
