A Close Run Thing

It was a close run thing.

I don’t know why but there was a photo of this other guy that kept on appearing on the screen saver.  I need to change that when I get home tonight!  Luckily, that had gone by the time we had got back home.

Then of course, there was the blog.  But I’m not stupid.  I remembered that!

Whilst I had a shower, I thought it would be nice if he could do his Facebook Farm (isn’t everyone doing that, now?).  ‘You can use the computer’, I said.

As I went to open it up, I remembered to close the blog.

A few moments later, whilst I was changing into my bath robe for the shower, I saw he had managed to open up the document I keep open and, in which, I write my posts!  Bugger.  But then I could hardly turn round and say, excuse me please, whilst closing it down.

And, so, I wondered if he had read any – or gone back to look when I was in the shower?  And then I got to thinking – what if one of his colleagues reads the blog and then recognises him or other people in the blog and then tells him.

I can only hope that, if they do find it, it gives the name of the organisation so I can phone him first!!!!!

Perhaps I should just tell him about it and get it over with?

  1. The blog issue is a serious one. I would suggest you to tell him about the blog ONLY IF you’re confortable with that. Otherwise, it’s better to wait a little bit more.

  2. Yes, I know it could be serious. I would much rather be up front with him. V only ever looked at this site once, that I knew of. I’m pretty sure that he didn’t come back to it. But I’m not sure how F would take it? He’s Italian and has already told me that he doesn’t talk about personal stuff with other people – even friends! This might be a bit much for him, being so public and all – although, apart from my name, no other names have been mentioned here that you could pick up on.

And a lot of this is my interpretation or thoughts on things rather than actual reality but…….

I just don’t want him to find it before I’ve explained it to him.

There’s also the issue of how it would change the blog if he did know about it? With V I was ‘safe’. With F – well, it’s only been a few weeks and I’m not sure how it would seem to him! What would I do if he asked me to take it down (as an extreme example)?

    Boh!

  3. Yes, it could be much for him, Andy.
I told my partner about my blog and it wasn’t a good idea for at least two reasons: it has an impact on my writing and he is like F, he doesn’t talk about personal stuff. As for the first reason, I’m trying to deal with it and that is why I mainly write in English. He understands written English but it’s too time consuming for him so he doesn’t look daily at the site. It’s not that I want to hide something from him, I just want to be free and write whatever I want (my friends, even my stronng ties, don’t know about the site). As for the second, he already told me “oh, you wrote about that! it’s very personal”.
So… you have to be ready to face the consequences. But please, don’t take it down!

  4. I think F would be the same as your partner – but I also feel that he may be like V in that he wouldn’t read it at all – it’s almost better not knowing what is written, if you see what I mean.

I just want to make sure that he doesn’t find it before I have attempted to explain – not only what it is but also what it means to me and why it is important to write about my life in this way. Since really, everyone else here are ‘bit players’ to the real story of the blog – which is me! Even F is a ‘bit player’ since, although he seems to occupy every post, it is only because he is the most important thing in MY life, right now :-)

Having re-read this, it seems selfish – but I think that writing (and particularly blogging) is both a solitary and selfish thing to do – not necessarily in a bad way – but just in ‘that’s the way it is’.
