Visitors; Work as a Soap Opera; Sex & the City.

From Tripoli in Libya! Via email!!

Now, as far as I know, I don’t actually know anyone who either lives in or travels to Libya.

Strange. If it’s you, what were you doing there? And, more to the point, who are you?

Working here, in Italy, for an Italian company, is much the same as working for an English company. We have the same internal politics, the same kind of relationships, gossip, etc. Even to the point that some of my colleagues say that our company would be a good subject for one of those fly-on-the-wall documentaries or a soap opera.

The difference is that it’s not MY company. So when some auditors came yesterday and, basically, ripped our paperwork system to shreds and gave us quite a good kicking, I felt no personal attack.

It’s a good feeling. At the end of the day I didn’t choose the people who performed (or didn’t, in this case) the activities that were supposed to be performed and so I could take no personal responsibility. Nor could I bollock them afterwards which I always hated to do anyway.

At the moment there is no real let-up either at home or work, hence not so many posts. I really don’t think there’ll be that much before the holidays. It’s good, in a way, but it does make me feel tired.

Just a quick note about Sex & the City which we went to see on Tuesday. I realise that most of you (who were going to) have seen it ages back but we had to wait for the English showing. It was fantastic. Exactly as it should be (apart from when Carrie did actually marry Big which really should never have happened). Loved it. One girl with us who is Italian said that it was better in English as the Italian (dubbed) version didn’t (couldn’t) have all of the jokes/funny bits.
