Nightmares; Making the toilet a nice place for relaxing

Nightmares

Apparently, recently, I am the subject of nightmares. Worse, the nightmares seem to reflect real life pretty well.

So, last night, apparently, the MD had a dream about L’Aquila and the earthquake there and I was in the middle of the earthquake!

And, it’s connection with real life? Well, aside from my personal status, which she does know about but only on the very basic level, there is work. My three projects are not going so well right now. OK, in reality, they’re a disaster. Plus many of the personnel who are working on them are sick, injured, in American jail or something similar. So, she joked with me, the nightmare reflected real life! It’s a bloody good job we have tough employment laws here, otherwise, I would be sacked by now for bringing bad luck!

And, on the work front, I am travelling to Denmark tonight to do some work (I know, shocking, isn’t it). I am updating a computer program! It’s a little like stepping back in time 10 or 15 years! Very scary.

So, I shall not be able to put through your comments for the next couple of days, probably, unless I can get internet access at airports or something.

The other thing, I think as a result of our wonderful Health & Safety Manager, is that, recently, there has been introduced a roll of paper, fixed on a special stand, for drying your hands as many people here don’t seem to like the hot air hand dryer.

And I know it was there before, but this morning I was struck by the strangeness of a chair in the gents that was put in at the same time (I think) as the paper! I realise that ladies toilets often have chairs as they need to do make-up, etc. but, a chair in the gents, for me, is such a strange thing. Why? I just can’t imagine anyone sitting down on it. Men don’t lurk in toilets unless your name is George Michael and/or you’re up to no good!

Perhaps we’ll be having flowers in there shortly or perhaps our H&S Manager is trying to tell us something? No, that’s more scary than the nightmares………

  1. It’s not you that gives “bad luck”. I saw again the eyes of the cobra, but…The chair was not put by the H&S, but by someone else of my office. Why? Every morning he arrives and changes his shoes with the “safety” ones. Being seated it’s easier. I think you can understand who is…By the way, I’m the same nightmare, living it all the day long! And next week it will be worse, with the H&S dealing with hot oil…

  2. Well, neither is it you who brings bad luck. As we say – shit happens!
    Ah, that explains the chair.
I didn’t really understand the bit about you being the same nightmare. Can you expand on that?

  3. You’ve been there longer than me, of course, but I get the impression that all projects, both now and in the past, have been this way. After all, even projects that are many years old come up with serious problems!
