My mood is like the weather, sombre and grey. Spring? Where the hell is it? Continue reading

Don’t hold your breath in the Gotthard Tunnel!
Today, as yesterday, has been a really beautiful day. Unfortunately we had some chores to do – mine in front of a computer and V ironing. However, it was so beautiful that we decided to take Rufus for a walk in Giardini Pubblici (the park closest to where we live in Milan) this afternoon.
Whilst walking in the park, we have to pass under a footbridge – but it’s a wide one as I guess they also use it for park vehicles. V says that he doesn’t like walking under the bridge because it smells. I said that it didn’t but he said that it didn’t matter anyway as you ‘have to hold your breath under bridges and in tunnels as it’s lucky’! Yep, he really said that. He did add that it probably wasn’t a good idea to do that in the Gotthard Tunnel (from here to Switzerland).
It reminded me of when he was on Jeopardy and, when asked if he had ever worked in a factory, he replied ‘No, but I did drive past one, once’. Continue reading
… and then ….
I suppose I should keep this updated for those of you who read the entry below and the fact that this is the last day of my short-term contract.
It’s Christmas in Milano!
I found it hard to believe, but there are two people that actually read this blog! I know this only because they told me. In fact, one of them complained that most of it was boring, so, basically, they only read the first few lines!
Lots of amazing news!
Well, many things are happening!
First, we have been offered (and accepted) a beautiful house in Val Curone – halfway between Milano and Genoa, about one hours travel from Milano) – which is almost like Tuscany but without the Brits or the tourists! Absolutely fantastic! We have got it for the whole month of August and, originally, when we accepted it, I was going to do my last lesson on 31st July and my next lesson on 31st August – so it would be a whole month in the country!
Riots and Wind!
Well, it’s all happening here! Today is Sunday. We are having some beautiful weather right now. It’s like spring, which is fantastic.
However, yesterday, when Rufus and I were coming back from the park in the morning, there were tons of Police with riot gear Continue reading
The problem with Rufus
Of course, generally there is no problem with Rufus. He is an exceptionally well-behaved dog and is truly lovable (as we find when he walks the street). If you’re single, living in Italy and want to meet people – get a Rufus and it will work wonders.
At the moment he is still not Rabies certified, so to speak. When we were back in the UK last summer, I took him to the vets to get his normal annual vaccinations as it coincides with us being back for Hay. As you do, I chatted with the vet and discussed the fact that we were taking him back to Italy as we live there now. The injections were done and the passport (yes, he has one, although there is no photo), was updated. I never thought to check it as the vets have always been so good.
2005 Update
Hi everyone. Happy New Year, Buon Anno e Auguri!
OK, so I know it’s been a while since our last update, but we have had a very busy year and time just slipped away.
However, not having the ability to email for most of the last month or so – and particularly now (something up with the hosting company) means I have a chance to sit and write something. And now (as you can see) I have the ability to blog – which is just fantastic. Will that make me better in the future – we shall see!
